Catalyst Labs builds custom software, AI systems and automation for businesses that have outgrown the tools they started with - the spreadsheet that became a database, the WhatsApp group that became a workflow, the manual step that now costs someone a day a week.
We exist because the gap between “we know what’s broken” and “we have a system that fixes it” is where most businesses get stuck - usually between an agency that can design and a developer who can code, with nobody accountable for whether the thing actually works.
So we do the whole path: understand the operation, architect the system, design the interface, build it, ship it, and stay for the part where it gets better. Founder-led, deliberately small, and answerable for the result rather than for a deliverable.
Most software problems are process problems
A tool that automates a broken process just produces the wrong answer faster. We map the work before we design the system.
Software is only useful if it gets used
Adoption is an engineering requirement, not a training problem. If the team routes around the system, the system was designed wrong.
The second version should build on the first
Typed code, real data models and written-down decisions cost a little more in week two and save the entire project in month eight.
Say when technology is the wrong answer
Some problems are solved by a policy change or a spreadsheet. Telling you that costs us a project and earns the next three.

Days 1–5
Discover
We sit with the business before we open an editor: how work moves today, where it stalls, who touches it, and what a fix is actually worth. Most projects change shape here - usually getting smaller and sharper.

Week 1–2
Architect
The system gets designed before it gets built: data model, integrations, where AI genuinely earns its place, and what happens when a dependency fails. Decisions are written down with their trade-offs.

Week 2–3
Design
Interface design driven by the workflow, not by a template. We design the states people actually hit - empty, loading, error, permission-denied - because that's where software is won or lost.

Week 3 onward
Build
Engineering in short cycles against a working deployment. You see the real product every week, on a staging URL, and can redirect while redirecting is still cheap.

Launch is a checkpoint, not the finish. Instrumentation goes in with the release, so the next iteration is decided from usage rather than opinion - and someone is on the other end when something breaks.
